ABSOLUTELY READ THIS: As required in the Sophomore Core Research Style Sheet, your finished paper must be typed, double-spaced, 4-5 pages long (not including the title page, the Works Cited page, figures and tables of data), in font size 12, font type Times New Roman, and with margins 1 inch long. You must use a minimum of 5 reference works (sources). At least 3 of the sources must be non-internet, therefore may be books, academic journal articles, information from government reports, statistical databases, etc. The other sources may be from the internet. Encyclopedias (i.e., wikipedia) are not appropriate for college level research papers; therefore, you may not use them. Note, a book or journal that exists in hard copy but accessed on the Internet, still counts as one of your 3 required non-internet sources.

You must use both in-text citations and a Works Cited page with corresponding citations. Only those works actually used in the development of your paper (that is, directly quoted or paraphrased) are cited in the Works Cited page. Research papers without the correct format of the in-text citations and the Works Cited page will be severely downgraded.

Please proofread your paper before handing it in and make sure your paper is professionally presented, i.e., uniform spacing, crisp, clean paper, legible print (not too light). Be sure the paper is stapled with your name on each page. A research paper must be submitted in a hard copy (no email attachments), and must be reproduceable upon request. Your paper is a reflection of you and reveals the pride you take in your work.

LATE SUBMISSION POLICY:

Late papers will be given one full grade per late day lower from the grade they would have received if they were on time. For example, if an on time paper would have received the grade of B (or B-), submitting the paper one day late would reduce its grade to a C (C-), two days late to a D (D-), etc.
