OUR MISSION—Through our tutorial services, CAD helps accomplish the mission of Bloomfield College by helping students strengthen not only their academic knowledge and skills in all subject areas, but their time management and study skills as well. We teach various learning strategies in both individual and group settings, and the ultimate goal is to help students become independent learners. Academic excellence is developed over time—it takes an on-going commitment. For this reason, we encourage frequent and regular appointments.

Absolutely not. Many of our professional tutors are also part-time faculty, and all faculty members are aware that tutoring is a comprehensive service that helps ALL students. Your professor will most likely see you as a committed student eager to learn ways to improve. Some instructors, especially in the Academic Foundations (ACF) courses, give extra credit to those students attending tutoring.

No. Our tutors are also trained to teach you learning strategies and study and time-management skills, when necessary.
· Do I have a chance to evaluate the tutor?
Yes. You will be given a tutor-evaluation form at the end of the session. The evaluation is confidential, and it should be completed away from the tutor. Your input is welcome, and your suggestions will help us to improve the program.
BEING PREPARED—
· How should I prepare for each tutorial session? You must bring your textbook, handouts, class notes and materials, as well as a calculator, computer disk, ruler, etc., when necessary. In addition, a tutor will only help you if you have tried first: you must have read the assigned material, attended class, done your homework, written your essay, etc. The tutor is not here to do the work for you but to facilitate the learning process by helping you assess the problems and guiding you to find the solutions. Finally, you must be well-aware of the nature of the class assignments and what the teacher expects you to do.
