About Start Out Smart Program ::

The Start Out Smart Program, or S.O.S. Program, offered by the Center for Academic Development provides new students with the opportunity to retake the placement test in math and/or English after successful completion of the Program. This free four week program consists of refresher workshops and tutorial support. The vast majority of students who participate in the program score higher.

In addition to offering instructional and tutorial support, the S.O.S Program is a self-study review program, and as such the expectation is that you will apply yourself by dedicating the time and effort it takes to make it a success.

Please be aware that if you do not participate in the S.O.S. Program, you will not be able to retest.

The Start Out Smart program at Bloomfield College is made possible by generous funding from private and public sources, including Lynne and Archie Palmer and the U.S.

Department of Education (Title III). Students attend the program free of charge and gain the opportunity to accelerate their placement into college-level courses. The donors congratulate SOS students on their commitment to their education and wish them the success which will allow them to help others, as they have been helped during their time at Bloomfield College.
