WELCOME TO THE “READING-AT-ORIENTATION”
WEBSITE AT BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE!
Required Summer Reading
The Stranger by Albert Camus
This year, all of our students will receive Albert Camus’s classic novel The Stranger. Set in the 1940s in the African country of Algiers, which at the time was under French colonial rule, this novel explores the absurd and random nature of life through its protagonist Meursault. Originally published in 1942 and later in English in 1946, The Stranger has remained among the most popular novels due to its timeless themes. Albert Camus won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957.
New students are being asked to read this book before August 25, when they will meet in small groups during orientation to discuss this novel. |
