The Alliance is an organization of gay and
non-gay staff, faculty and students whose primary purpose is to create an environment of
acceptance and mutual respect of various sexual orientations. It is a purpose fully in
accord with the message of diversity which is so central to the mission of the College. We
seek to realize our goals by creating a safe space wherein gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and
non-gay students may meet and network with each other. We regard it as especially critical
that gay, lesbian and bi-sexual students know each other. It is our hope that these
efforts at increasing the visibility of gay, lesbian and bi-sexual students on campus will
serve an educative function for the rest of the College community, and in so doing, allow
the College to achieve the diversity it seeks.
